Internet access: the population is not your addressable audience
ITU Facts and Figures 2025 estimates that 6 billion people were using the internet in 2025. This is a global connectivity estimate, not the number of people using chatbots or a count of potential customers for an individual business.
For planning, use your actual website audience and service reach. Keep geography, device and language assumptions visible rather than multiplying a global internet figure by an invented conversion rate.
Accessibility: a reason to test the entire customer route
The WebAIM Million 2026 report found detectable WCAG conformance failures on 95.9% of the evaluated homepages. The study uses automated evaluation of its selected homepage sample; it is not a complete manual accessibility verdict for every site or chatbot.
Review the widget and the alternative contact route using keyboard and mobile checks. Do not assume a new assistant fixes inaccessible navigation, forms or purchasing controls elsewhere on the website.
Measure the outcome you intend to improve
Record an eligible visitor cohort, the conversation starts, useful enquiries and staff-confirmed outcomes with consistent definitions. Separate bots, duplicate contacts and test records. State dates and limitations alongside any eventual rate.
A source about a different industry or product does not establish your own conversion improvement. Before publishing a number, retain the underlying method and denominator and ask whether another reviewer could reproduce it.
