YOUR FIRST SETUP, STEP BY STEP

From account to your first conversation.

Complete these steps in order. You can ask your website administrator to help with the code step.

  1. 01

    Create your business workspace

Sign up, add your business name and website URL, and describe the services you offer.

  2. 02

    Teach your assistant

In AI training, add your FAQs, services, pricing, or documents. Use Test your AI to check answers before you go live.

  3. 03

    Approve your website domain

In Widget design, add exact hostnames such as example.com and www.example.com separately. Leave out https://, paths, and wildcards. Add staging domains too if your plan has room.

  4. 04

    Copy your own installation code

Open Installation in your dashboard and click Copy code for the widget you want. Each widget has its own ID.

CHOOSE YOUR WEBSITE

Where do I paste the code?

Use the installation code from your account. Select your platform below.

WWordPressSelf-hosted or a plan that allows scripts+
  1. Open your WordPress admin and the footer script area provided by your theme or an installed script manager.
  2. Paste your complete widget code into the site-wide footer scripts field.
  3. Save, clear your site cache, and open a published page.

Do not paste it into a regular paragraph block. On WordPress.com, your plan must support custom JavaScript.

WordPress guidance
SShopifyAdd it to your storefront theme+
  1. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes and duplicate your theme as a backup.
  2. Open the theme menu and choose Edit code. Find layout/theme.liquid.
  3. Paste your widget code just before </body>, then save and test your storefront.

Theme installation is for storefront pages. Shopify checkout has separate restrictions.

Shopify guidance
WWixUse site-wide Custom Code+
  1. Open your site dashboard and find Settings → Custom Code.
  2. Choose Add Custom Code, paste the snippet, and give it a name.
  3. Select All pages and Body – end. Apply the code and test your published site.

Your site must meet Wix’s requirements for custom code. Use Custom Code rather than an embedded HTML iframe.

Wix guidance
WWebflowUse the Footer code field+
  1. Open your site’s Site settings → Custom code.
  2. Paste your full widget snippet into Footer code and save.
  3. Publish your site and check the published URL, including on mobile.

Your Site or Workspace plan must allow custom code. Approve the exact hostname you publish to.

Webflow guidance
RReact / Next.jsLoad once in your site’s root layout+
  1. For a React app with an HTML entry file, paste the snippet before </body> in that file.
  2. For Next.js, use next/script in the root layout with your script URL, data-widget-id, and strategy="afterInteractive".
  3. Use your real widget ID, deploy, and test navigation between pages. Load the widget only once.

Ask your developer to use the exact URL and widget ID from your account. Your API keys are never needed in the embed.

Next.js Script guidance
</>HTML / other websitesAny site that supports external JavaScript+
  1. Open your website’s shared layout, footer template, or site-wide custom code area.
  2. Paste the complete snippet before the closing </body> tag or in the footer scripts field.
  3. Save and publish. Test a page visitors can access without signing in.

If your website builder blocks external scripts, ask its support team about custom JavaScript support.

BEFORE YOU SHARE IT WITH CUSTOMERS

Your go-live checklist.

The code is installed once on every page where you want the widget.

Both your bare domain and www domain are approved if your site uses them.

The chat button opens on desktop and mobile.

Your assistant answers a question using your business knowledge.

A test lead and conversation appear in your dashboard.

Your subscription is active and has usage available.

NEED A HAND?

If something doesn’t look right.

The chat button is missing

Check your script URL and widget ID, confirm the exact hostname is approved, publish your changes, and clear caches. If you use a Content Security Policy, your developer must allow the widget script and its API connections.

The chat opens but answers are limited

Add the missing information in AI training, check your subscription and usage, then try the question in the dashboard tester. Your platform administrator can check the AI provider setup.

The homepage check says “not detected”

The dashboard check reads your homepage source. Code added by a website builder or JavaScript may appear only after the page loads. Test the live chat manually and check your dashboard conversations.

It works on one domain only

Domain approval uses exact hostnames. Add any www, staging, or subdomain you use. A widget should load once per page; remove duplicate snippets if you see repeated behavior.

Check the visitor experience, not just the script.

After publishing, open an ordinary browser tab on the same address your customers use. Test the chat on a phone-sized screen, scroll the page, and confirm that navigation and checkout controls remain usable. If your website has a sticky footer, adjust the widget position in the dashboard so both controls remain accessible.

Ask a question covered by your training, then one outside it. Check that your assistant offers a useful next step instead of inventing an answer. Submit a test contact request with your own details and confirm that your team can find the lead and conversation. Review an appointment request as a request your team must confirm, rather than a guaranteed calendar booking.

Optional analytics is a separate choice from using the chat. A visitor who declines should still be able to ask questions. Read the visitor analytics consent and deletion notice and your account and conversation privacy guidance before testing with real customer information. Reports may stay empty until visitors opt in.

Use the public chatbot demo to understand the chat controls, and return to the LeadVaani lead generation features to plan your follow-up process. Keep your website's existing contact form available while you evaluate the widget.

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Website chatbot installation FAQs

Can I install the chatbot without writing an application?+

Yes. Copy the JavaScript snippet from your dashboard and add it using your website platform settings or theme. If your platform restricts custom scripts, ask your website administrator to check what your plan permits.

Why do I need to approve both www and my bare domain?+

Widget domain approval uses exact hostnames. If visitors use both example.com and www.example.com, approve each hostname separately. Add the staging hostname if you also test there.

Do visitors need an account to ask a question?+

No. Visitors open the website chat widget to ask questions. Your business account is used to manage knowledge, conversations, leads, and widget settings.

Does installation automatically train the assistant?+

No. Add or import the business information in AI training and test it before publishing. Installing the snippet displays the widget; it does not guarantee complete or current business answers.
